    Chrissi Island (or gaidouronisi)

An exotic island next to us…

The uninhabited paradise of Chrissi lies 8 nautical miles south of Ierapetra. Anislandofexquisitenaturalbeauty. It has an amazing cedar forest of 86.5 acres and average tree age between 200 – 300 years. Beautiful shores with turquoise waters, shallow bays, countless sea-shells, fine golden sand and lovely colours reflected in the sea

Chrissi is protected by Natura 2000 Networking Programme, as an area of natural beauty. It is an earthly tropical paradise, a natural park in the southernmost point in Europe, thus justly called “the Mediterranean diamond stone”.

As you love nature, do not forget that the island must be kept clean and the collection of rocks, fossils and wildlife specimens, the disturbance of designated trails, camping and smoking in bushy areas are prohibited. It is part of a daily trip from the city of Ierapetra.

    The palm forest of Vai

The palm tree forest (Vai) is one of the most popular sights in Crete as well as one of the most beautiful and exceptional sites around the Mediterranean sea.

It attracts many visitors every year, not only for its palm forest but also for its long sandy beach stretching in front of it.

    Lassithi Plateau

It lies at an altitude of about 800 metres, in a quiet and fertile area surrounded by the high mountain range of Dikti. It holds a unique combination of natural beauty, mythology, history and traditional way of leaving.

The 18 picturesque villages of the Plateau are located at the foot of the mountain, inter-connected with a circular road, leaving the plateau fields free to cultivate. The most significant sight is considered to be the Psichro Cave (Diktaean Cave), next to the homonymous village. Mythology says that it is the cave where Zeus, the god of gods was born

    Elounda - Spinalonga

Coming from AgiosNikolaos, at first sight from Lenika, where you can stop and enjoy the view, Elounda is breath-taking. From there you may see the entire bay of Mirabello and the lagoon of Elounda.

In the background you can see the picturesque Plaka and the famous as island of the lepers, Spinalonga. You can visit this wonderful island by boats daily setting sail from AgiosNikolaos, Elounda and Plaka.
